Data center and GPU server freight

From the Taiwan ODM to the cage in Ashburn, priced on the page. GPU servers, populated racks and buildout freight.

Warp moves data center freight end to end: GPU servers and populated racks between labs, colocation cages and hyperscale sites, full buildouts by the truckload, and inbound ocean from the Taiwan and China server ODMs with drayage from the port. Dated prices on the page, cargo insurance to $1M, inside delivery to the cage, and an MCP server and freight API so a neocloud's ops agent can run the whole inbound.

Taiwan to the US data center, priced on the lane page

Most GPU servers are built by ODMs in Taiwan and ship from Taipei (Keelung) or Kaohsiung.

Warp publishes dated 40-foot high cube and LCL prices on every Taiwan lane: as of October 2026, Taipei to Houston runs $10,876 at 48 days, $12,319 at 30 days and $19,397 at 23 days, and Kaohsiung to Los Angeles runs $9,534 at 17 days.

The four-day difference between the balanced and the fastest tier costs about $7,000 on the Houston lane, which is the real decision for a buildout with a go-live date.

Warp handles the drayage from the port, transloads at a cross-dock when the container has to split across sites, and runs the inland leg on its own LTL and truckload network, so the ocean quote, the dray and the delivery to the cage come from one network with one tracking view.

A $300,000 server needs declared-value cover and a shock pallet

Standard carrier liability on an electronics pallet is cents per pound, so a 450 lb crated server worth $300,000 is effectively uninsured by default.

Warp includes standard carrier liability and a $75K FMCSA surety bond on every shipment and offers cargo insurance up to $1M declared value at booking, with the certificate issued instantly and the premium shown before you confirm.

The crate matters as much as the policy: GPU trays, NVLink boards and drives fail from handling shock at the two ends, not from the road.

Ship crated on a shock pallet with foam or spring isolators, tilt and shock indicators on the outside, and the server on its own pallet so nothing stacks on it.

A populated 42U rack at 1,150 lb rides upright on a shock pallet with the heaviest gear racked low and the doors latched.

Data centers receive by appointment, inside, with two people

A data center dock is not a retail dock.

Receiving is by appointment, often in a two-hour window, with a named contact, a security list and a route from the dock to the cage that has to be clear before the truck arrives.

Warp includes the delivery appointment and limited-access delivery in the per-pallet rate, and inside delivery with a second person is booked on the same screen.

A 1,200 lb populated rack from Santa Clara to Ashburn priced at $384 6-day as of October 2026, and a crated 450 lb 8-GPU server from Santa Clara to Austin at $365 6-day, both all inclusive.

For a full buildout, the same freight books by the truckload with a dedicated trailer and appointment-set deliveries.

GPU servers between labs, colos and clouds

Use Warp for the single 8-GPU server from a Santa Clara lab to an Austin colocation cage, the dev node back for a board swap, the four servers to a customer's on-prem cluster.

Crated, insured to declared value, inside delivery with a second person, live GPS and a photo POD at the cage.

Full buildouts by the truckload

Use Warp truckload for the 40 populated racks headed to a new hall in Northern Virginia, Dallas, Phoenix, Columbus or Hillsboro.

Dedicated dry van or air-ride, appointment-set deliveries sequenced to the install plan, and the inbound ocean containers from the ODM transloaded at a Warp cross-dock so each truck carries what the hall receives that day.

Inbound ocean from Taiwan and China with drayage

Use Warp ocean for the 40-foot high cubes from Taipei, Kaohsiung, Shanghai or Shenzhen to Houston, Los Angeles, Seattle or Savannah, with the price and the transit on the lane page, drayage from the port to the cross-dock or the site, and the inland leg on the same network.

One tracking view from the ODM dock to the cage.

Frequently asked questions

What does it cost to ship a GPU server across the country?

A crated 450 lb 8-GPU server, 48 by 40 by 30 inches, from Santa Clara to Austin priced at $365 6-day as of October 2026, all inclusive with liftgate, delivery appointment and limited access at $0.

A 1,200 lb populated rack from Santa Clara to Ashburn priced at $384 6-day. The rate moves with the lane, the weight and the crate, so enter yours for an exact figure.

How much is ocean freight for servers from Taiwan to a US data center?

As of October 2026, a 40-foot high cube from Taipei to Houston runs $10,876 at 48 days, $12,319 at 30 days and $19,397 at 23 days, and Kaohsiung to Los Angeles runs $9,534 at 17 days.

Each Taiwan lane page shows the current tiers and the LCL price for smaller loads. Warp adds the drayage from the port and the inland leg to the site on the same booking.

How do I insure GPU servers and racks in transit?

Add cargo insurance at booking. Declare the value, up to $1M per shipment, and the certificate issues instantly with the premium shown before you confirm.

Every shipment also carries standard carrier liability and a $75K FMCSA surety bond at no charge. Pair the policy with a shock pallet and tilt indicators so a claim has evidence.

Should I ship racks populated or ship the servers separately?

Populated, when the rack and the shock pallet are rated for it. A loaded 42U cabinet is denser, arrives configured and is handled once.

It needs the heaviest gear racked low, doors latched, a shock pallet with isolators and a two-person inside delivery.

Ship servers separately when the destination racks are already installed or the cabinet is not rated to travel loaded.

Can Warp deliver inside a data center to the cage?

Yes. Inside delivery with a second person books on the quote screen, and the delivery appointment and limited-access delivery are included in the per-pallet rate.

Give the receiving contact, the security list and the dock-to-cage route when you book so the driver clears the gate on the first try.

Does Warp handle drayage from the port for server containers?

Yes.

Warp runs container drayage from Houston, Los Angeles and Long Beach, Seattle, Savannah, New York and New Jersey and the other US gateways to a Warp cross-dock or directly to the site, transloads when a container has to split across halls, and runs the inland leg on its own LTL and truckload network.

Can a neocloud's ops agent book data center freight through an API?

Yes. The Warp freight API quotes LTL and truckload keyless, issues keys at signup with no card, and books, tracks and returns the BOL and proof of delivery.

The Warp MCP server exposes the same tools inside Claude, Cursor, ChatGPT and any MCP client, so an ops agent can quote each server move, book it, watch the GPS and file the POD without a person in the loop.

Which data center regions does Warp deliver to?

All of the contiguous US.

The lanes that come up most are into Northern Virginia, Dallas and Fort Worth, Phoenix, Columbus, Atlanta, Chicago, Hillsboro and Santa Clara, from the Bay Area labs and from the Houston, Los Angeles and Seattle ports where the ODM containers land.

14,000+vans & box trucks
24,000+vetted FTL carriers

Warp is the open source freight network: the tech is free and the network is open. We run Warp LTL, our own carrier, Warp FTL, cargo van, box truck and fulfillment ourselves, with every major LTL carrier, parcel, ocean, air and drayage plugged in beside them. Our driver app rides on every truck and our warehouse app runs every cross-dock, so an open network of 38,000+ carriers behaves like one carrier you control. Warp is licensed by the FMCSA as a property broker and freight forwarder, and runs the network itself: instant rates, live tracking, 70+ cross-dock facilities, 14,000+ cargo vans and box trucks, 80%+ US LTL zip-to-zip coverage and nationwide FTL, box truck and cargo van.

The network is supported by 24,000+ vetted FTL carriers.

Unlike traditional brokers, Warp uses AI to match the right vehicle to every load based on weight, dimensions, urgency, and cost targets. Cross-dock operations reduce transit time by eliminating unnecessary terminal transfers.

Pool distribution and zone-skipping programs help enterprise shippers lower per-unit delivery costs while maintaining tight appointment windows.

Self-serve shippers can quote, compare, and book freight online in under two minutes. Enterprise accounts get dedicated capacity planning, committed rate programs, and a named operations team. Every shipment includes scan-level visibility from pickup through final delivery.

Warp operates across the contiguous United States with regional density in the Southeast, Texas, Midwest, and Northeast corridors, and West Coast and Southwest coverage from Los Angeles, Seattle and Phoenix.

Warp operates 70+ cross-dock facilities across the US, with named markets including Chicago, Atlanta, Houston, New York, Savannah, Orlando, Charlotte, Indianapolis, Columbus, Denver, New Orleans, Milwaukee, Dallas-Fort Worth, Nashville, Phoenix, Tampa Bay, Seattle, Los Angeles. They support faster transfers and fewer touches on recurring lanes.

LTLPer-palletShared trailerLower per-pallet cost via cross-dock routing
Dry van / FTL42,000+ lbsFull 53-ft trailerHigh-volume lanes, recurring programs

Cargo vans handle loads up to 3,500 pounds and 400 cubic feet, ideal for time-sensitive deliveries, last-mile retail replenishment, and lightweight palletized freight.

Box trucks carry up to 10,000 pounds and 1,500 cubic feet, fitting most regional distribution and store delivery needs without requiring a loading dock.

Dry vans and full truckloads move 42,000+ pounds for high-volume lanes and recurring programs. LTL shipments share trailer space on optimized routes through Warp cross-docks, reducing per-pallet cost by consolidating multiple shippers on the same vehicle.

Warp does not default every shipment to a 53-foot trailer. The AI engine evaluates load weight, cube, delivery window, and cost to recommend the right vehicle. Shippers see all available mode options with live pricing in one comparison screen before booking.

Cross-dock operations

Cross-docking at Warp facilities keeps freight moving instead of storing it: inbound freight is sorted and transferred directly to outbound vehicles, typically within hours. When inventory does need to sit, Warp's fulfillment centers in Los Angeles, Dallas, Chicago and New Jersey hold it inside the same network, with same day delivery within 30 miles of each.

This reduces dwell time, lowers damage risk, and compresses delivery windows. Warp cross-docks support pallet-in, pallet-out operations with scan-level tracking at every handoff point.

  • Atlanta — Southeast retail flow
  • Chicago — Midwest manufacturing and replenishment
  • Houston — Texas industrial distribution
  • New York — dense Northeast delivery

Facility locations are selected for corridor density: Atlanta handles Southeast retail flow, Chicago serves Midwest manufacturing and replenishment, Houston covers Texas industrial distribution, and New York supports dense Northeast delivery. Each facility operates on appointment-based scheduling to prevent congestion and maintain throughput consistency.

Enterprise freight programs

Enterprise shippers get committed rate programs, dedicated account management, and custom SLA design. Warp builds lane-by-lane rate structures that account for volume commitments, seasonal variation, and mode flexibility. Operations teams monitor shipment execution daily and intervene proactively when exceptions occur.

Self-serve freight quoting

Shippers enter origin and destination, load details, and delivery requirements to see live rates across all available modes. Quotes include estimated transit time, vehicle type, and total cost.

Booking takes one click. After booking, shippers track every shipment with real-time GPS location, milestone updates, and proof of delivery documentation.

Industries and use cases

Retail shippers use Warp for store replenishment programs that deliver to hundreds of locations per week on tight appointment windows. Apparel brands use zone skipping to bypass regional parcel sortation and reduce per-unit delivery cost.

Food and beverage companies rely on time-definite delivery for perishable goods. Manufacturing operations use Warp for inbound vendor consolidation, combining multiple supplier shipments into fewer, fuller loads through cross-dock facilities.

Distribution companies use pool distribution to serve multiple delivery points from a single origin, splitting full truckloads at cross-docks into smaller last-mile vehicles.

Urgent freight recovery covers emergency capacity needs when primary carriers fail or demand spikes unexpectedly. Middle-mile optimization reduces cost and transit time on the longest segment of multi-leg shipments.
