What a 3PL does
A 3PL, or third party logistics company, runs the physical side of your supply chain under contract: receiving inventory from your suppliers, storing it, picking and packing customer orders, shipping them, and moving pallets between locations.
Most 3PL companies run the warehouse and rent the trucks. Warp runs the freight network and the warehouses inside it, which changes what a 3PL can promise on the freight line.
Warp 3PL services, end to end
Receiving on Warp trucks, with every pallet scanned, timestamped and photographed. Pallet and case storage billed by the pallet by the day. Pick and pack to the spec agreed at intake.
Cross docking and transloading across the network when inventory should keep moving.
Outbound on the right mode: parcel on FedEx, UPS and USPS from every center, same day freight inside 150 miles on Warp vans and box trucks, big and bulky final mile, pallets on Warp LTL and truckload.
One account covers the warehouse and the trucks.
Why a 3PL inside a freight network costs less
Freight is usually the biggest line on a 3PL bill and the one most providers mark up, because they broker it.
At Warp, inbound and outbound pallets ride the Warp LTL and truckload network, audited 24% lower per pallet across 86 enterprise LTL migrations, and the rate you're quoted is the rate you're invoiced.
Storage has no lease and no monthly minimum, so a slow month costs you what a slow month should.
How 3PL pricing works at Warp
Three lines. Storage, receiving, pick and pack and outbound handling, published below by center at dock cost plus 2 percent, with no minimum stay and no platform fee.
Warp freight in and out at the per pallet rate you're quoted. Pick and pack to the spec agreed at intake. Placement across the centers is set from your actual volume on a strategy call.

3PL rates by center
Dock cost plus 2 percent, published by center. Freight in and out is quoted separately at the per pallet rate, and the quote is the invoice. No platform fee, no minimum stay.
Los Angeles (Wholesale Street, 64 dock doors) and any line a center leaves blank are quoted on the call. The full card, with pick and pack, returns, kitting and after hours openings, is on the fulfillment page.
3PL vs 4PL vs freight broker
A 3PL runs the warehouse and the shipments. A 4PL manages several 3PLs and carriers on your behalf and runs none of them. A freight broker moves loads and holds no inventory.
Warp is a 3PL that also runs the freight network, so the two decisions a brand usually makes separately, who stores the inventory and who moves it, collapse into one relationship with one number per pallet.
Who Warp 3PL services are built for
Ecommerce and DTC brands that have outgrown a garage or a first 3PL and need same day delivery in their densest metros.
Wholesale and retail vendors staging replenishment pallets for tight receiving windows. Importers who want the container to land, the pallets to store and the outbound to run without three vendors.
Mid market shippers who want a 3PL logistics company that treats freight as the product, not an add on. Most start with a pilot at the one center closest to their orders.
How to start
Book a strategy call and bring what you store, where your orders land, and what receiving, storage and outbound cost you today.
If we both see a fit, you send order history, Warp scopes the program at the closest center, and inbound pallets ride Warp trucks to the dock.
Frequently asked questions
What is a 3PL?
A 3PL, short for third party logistics, is a company that runs receiving, storage, order fulfillment and shipping for a brand under contract.
Warp Fulfillment operates as a 3PL with a difference: the freight in and out runs on Warp's own network of 70+ warehouses and its LTL, truckload, box truck and cargo van fleet.
What services do 3PL companies provide?
Receiving, pallet and case storage, pick and pack, returns handling, cross docking, and outbound shipping by parcel, LTL, truckload or courier.
Warp covers receiving, storage, pick and pack, returns and outbound from four fulfillment centers and 70+ warehouses, with same day delivery within 30 miles of each center.
How much does a 3PL cost?
At Warp the warehouse lines are published by center at dock cost plus 2 percent: receiving from $10.20 per pallet in Dallas, pallet storage from $16.07 per pallet per month in Dallas, billed by the day at $0.54 a day, pick and pack from $2.57 for the first item of an order in New Jersey, and $10.20 per pallet out, with no minimum stay and no platform fee.
Freight in and out rides the Warp network, audited 24% lower per pallet across 86 enterprise LTL migrations, at the per pallet rate you're quoted.

What's the difference between a 3PL and a fulfillment center?
A fulfillment center is a building where orders are picked, packed and shipped. A 3PL is the company that runs it, and often several of them, plus the freight between them.
Warp runs four fulfillment centers and 70+ warehouses as one 3PL service.
Is Warp a 3PL?
Yes. Warp Fulfillment is a 3PL that offers receiving, storage, pick and pack and outbound shipping, with the freight run on Warp's own network rather than brokered.
Programs are scoped on a strategy call rather than through a self serve quote.
Can I use Warp 3PL services and keep my parcel carriers?
Yes. Parcel already ships FedEx, UPS and USPS ground and express from every Warp center.
What changes is the freight around it: inbound pallets, transfers between locations, big and bulky orders and same day deliveries move on Warp trucks.
I run a 3PL. Can Warp power my freight?
That's a different product. The Warp 3PL Platform lets brokers and 3PLs sell Warp freight under their own brand with no code. This page is for brands that want Warp to be their 3PL.
About the Warp freight network
More about the Warp freight network
Warp is the open source freight network: the tech is free and the network is open. We run Warp LTL, our own carrier, Warp FTL, cargo van, box truck and fulfillment ourselves, with every major LTL carrier, parcel, ocean, air and drayage plugged in beside them. Our driver app rides on every truck and our warehouse app runs every cross-dock, so an open network of 38,000+ carriers behaves like one carrier you control. Warp is licensed by the FMCSA as a property broker and freight forwarder, and runs the network itself: instant rates, live tracking, 70+ cross-dock facilities, 14,000+ cargo vans and box trucks, 80%+ US LTL zip-to-zip coverage and nationwide FTL, box truck and cargo van.
The network is supported by 24,000+ vetted FTL carriers.
Unlike traditional brokers, Warp uses AI to match the right vehicle to every load based on weight, dimensions, urgency, and cost targets. Cross-dock operations reduce transit time by eliminating unnecessary terminal transfers.
Pool distribution and zone-skipping programs help enterprise shippers lower per-unit delivery costs while maintaining tight appointment windows.
Self-serve shippers can quote, compare, and book freight online in under two minutes. Enterprise accounts get dedicated capacity planning, committed rate programs, and a named operations team. Every shipment includes scan-level visibility from pickup through final delivery.
Warp operates across the contiguous United States with regional density in the Southeast, Texas, Midwest, and Northeast corridors, and West Coast and Southwest coverage from Los Angeles, Seattle and Phoenix.
Warp operates 70+ cross-dock facilities across the US, with named markets including Chicago, Atlanta, Houston, New York, Savannah, Orlando, Charlotte, Indianapolis, Columbus, Denver, New Orleans, Milwaukee, Dallas-Fort Worth, Nashville, Phoenix, Tampa Bay, Seattle, Los Angeles. They support faster transfers and fewer touches on recurring lanes.
Freight modes and vehicle types
| Mode | Max payload | Max cube | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cargo van | 3,500 lbs | 400 cu ft | Time-sensitive, last-mile, light pallets |
| Box truck | 10,000 lbs | 1,500 cu ft | Regional distribution, no dock required |
| LTL | Per-pallet | Shared trailer | Lower per-pallet cost via cross-dock routing |
| Dry van / FTL | 42,000+ lbs | Full 53-ft trailer | High-volume lanes, recurring programs |
Cargo vans handle loads up to 3,500 pounds and 400 cubic feet, ideal for time-sensitive deliveries, last-mile retail replenishment, and lightweight palletized freight.
Box trucks carry up to 10,000 pounds and 1,500 cubic feet, fitting most regional distribution and store delivery needs without requiring a loading dock.
Dry vans and full truckloads move 42,000+ pounds for high-volume lanes and recurring programs. LTL shipments share trailer space on optimized routes through Warp cross-docks, reducing per-pallet cost by consolidating multiple shippers on the same vehicle.
Warp does not default every shipment to a 53-foot trailer. The AI engine evaluates load weight, cube, delivery window, and cost to recommend the right vehicle. Shippers see all available mode options with live pricing in one comparison screen before booking.
Cross-dock operations
Cross-docking at Warp facilities keeps freight moving instead of storing it: inbound freight is sorted and transferred directly to outbound vehicles, typically within hours. When inventory does need to sit, Warp's fulfillment centers in Los Angeles, Dallas, Chicago and New Jersey hold it inside the same network, with same day delivery within 30 miles of each.
This reduces dwell time, lowers damage risk, and compresses delivery windows. Warp cross-docks support pallet-in, pallet-out operations with scan-level tracking at every handoff point.
- Atlanta — Southeast retail flow
- Chicago — Midwest manufacturing and replenishment
- Houston — Texas industrial distribution
- New York — dense Northeast delivery
Facility locations are selected for corridor density: Atlanta handles Southeast retail flow, Chicago serves Midwest manufacturing and replenishment, Houston covers Texas industrial distribution, and New York supports dense Northeast delivery. Each facility operates on appointment-based scheduling to prevent congestion and maintain throughput consistency.
Enterprise freight programs
Enterprise shippers get committed rate programs, dedicated account management, and custom SLA design. Warp builds lane-by-lane rate structures that account for volume commitments, seasonal variation, and mode flexibility. Operations teams monitor shipment execution daily and intervene proactively when exceptions occur.
Self-serve freight quoting
Shippers enter origin and destination, load details, and delivery requirements to see live rates across all available modes. Quotes include estimated transit time, vehicle type, and total cost.
Booking takes one click. After booking, shippers track every shipment with real-time GPS location, milestone updates, and proof of delivery documentation.
Industries and use cases
Retail shippers use Warp for store replenishment programs that deliver to hundreds of locations per week on tight appointment windows. Apparel brands use zone skipping to bypass regional parcel sortation and reduce per-unit delivery cost.
Food and beverage companies rely on time-definite delivery for perishable goods. Manufacturing operations use Warp for inbound vendor consolidation, combining multiple supplier shipments into fewer, fuller loads through cross-dock facilities.
Distribution companies use pool distribution to serve multiple delivery points from a single origin, splitting full truckloads at cross-docks into smaller last-mile vehicles.
Urgent freight recovery covers emergency capacity needs when primary carriers fail or demand spikes unexpectedly. Middle-mile optimization reduces cost and transit time on the longest segment of multi-leg shipments.
