Before you start
Two honest caveats. First, this is a beta: custom MCP connectors sit behind developer mode, they need a paid plan, and Business or Enterprise workspaces need an admin to unlock them. Second, OpenAI has renamed this surface twice in eight months (connectors became apps in December 2025; the directory moved to plugins in July 2026), so exact menu names drift faster than any guide can track — the destination is stable even when the path is not. If your workspace does not expose developer mode at all, the zero-setup path is Warp's structured handoff prompts at wearewarp.com/agents/handoff: paste one into any ChatGPT conversation and it collects shipment details, then deep-links into Warp's quote flow.
The connector (ChatGPT)
No config file and no install — the hosted server speaks streamable HTTP with OAuth sign-in. One URL connects ChatGPT to the same production freight tools as every other client.

- Check you are on a paid ChatGPT plan. Custom MCP connectors are a developer-mode beta feature and free accounts cannot add them. On Business and Enterprise, an admin has to allow custom MCP connectors for the workspace first (workspace settings, under permissions and connected data).
- Turn on developer mode. It lives in ChatGPT's advanced settings on the web. OpenAI has reorganized this area twice — connectors were renamed apps in December 2025, and the directory moved again to plugins in July 2026 — so if the menu names have shifted again, search ChatGPT's settings for "developer mode" rather than following a fixed click path.
- Add a custom connector: name it Warp, paste https://mcp.wearewarp.com/api/mcp as the MCP server URL, and choose OAuth for authentication. ChatGPT discovers the OAuth metadata and registers itself automatically. A short description helps, because the model reads it when deciding whether to reach for the connector.
- Sign in with your Warp account when prompted. No API key is ever pasted into ChatGPT. New to Warp? Create the account at wearewarp.com/agents/account first.
- Ask for a freight quote to verify the tools loaded. In a new chat you may need to select Warp as a source first. The same quote, book, and track tools that run in Claude clients work inside ChatGPT.

Three things to check, in order. Your plan: free accounts cannot add custom MCP connectors, so a paid plan is required.
Your workspace: on Business and Enterprise an admin has to allow custom MCP connectors before they appear for anyone.
The menu name: OpenAI renamed connectors to apps in December 2025 and moved the directory to plugins in July 2026, so search settings for "developer mode" rather than hunting a fixed click path.
