Order fulfillment is everything that happens to one customer order between the click and the doorstep: the order is received from the storefront or marketplace, its items are picked from storage, packed to a spec, labeled, handed to a carrier or a delivery van, tracked to delivery, and taken back if it is returned. It is the per order half of fulfillment; receiving and storing the inventory is the per pallet half.
