What is an open source freight network?

Traditional freight is closed. Every broker operates a proprietary network. Their carriers, their relationships, their pricing, all locked behind a phone call and a rep who may or may not pick up. Network operations

How Warp's freight network operates

The network has three layers: facilities, carriers, and intelligence.

Cross-dock facilities. Warp operates 50+ cross-dock facilities across the US. These are not traditional freight terminals where pallets sit for days. They are designed for flow. Freight arrives, gets scanned in at the pallet level, sorted by destination, and moves out. Services include cross-docking, pick and pack, transloading, devanning, sortation, and labeling. Temperature-controlled storage is available for food, beverage, and pharma. Warp does not charge for dedicated space in the building.

Carrier network. 20,000+ local 3rd-party carriers dispatched through the Warp driver app. Every carrier goes through authority verification, insurance validation, safety score review, equipment inspection history, and operating record checks before they can touch freight. Carriers with poor safety records, lapsed insurance, or compliance issues are blocked. For recurring programs, Warp tracks on-time performance, damage rates, and communication responsiveness per carrier. Underperformers are removed.

Intelligence layer. Our AI backbone, Orbit, monitors every load in real time. Live GPS tracking through the Warp driver app. ELD integrations on all line-haul trucks for continuous visibility. Scan in, scan out events at every facility touchpoint. Orbit flags late pickups, late departures, missed scans, route deviations, dwell anomalies, temperature deviations, delivery exceptions, speed anomalies, unplanned stops, and hours of service issues. A freight network that doesn't get smarter with every shipment isn't a network. It's just a directory. Warp's digital freight network continuously optimizes across four dimensions.

AI routing. Our AI backbone, Orbit, analyzes carrier performance, lane density, facility throughput, and real-time capacity to route every shipment through the optimal path. As more freight flows through the network, routing decisions improve. High density lanes get dedicated capacity through the Work Queue system, which assigns consistent drivers to recurring routes.

Carrier scoring. Every carrier in the network accumulates a performance record. On-time pickup rates, delivery accuracy, damage frequency, communication responsiveness. This scoring is continuous and automatic. Top-performing carriers get priority on high-value lanes. Underperformers are removed from the network entirely. The carrier pool gets stronger every week.

Lane density economics. Freight networks create a flywheel. More shipments on a lane means more carrier options, which means better rates and faster coverage. Every new shipper on a lane makes that lane better for every existing shipper.

Consolidation and deconsolidation. The network doesn't just move individual shipments. It consolidates freight from multiple shippers onto shared line-haul trucks, routes through cross-dock facilities, and deconsolidates for local delivery. This is how per-pallet rates stay all-inclusive with no fuel surcharges, no hidden accessorials, and no terminal handling charges. Density pays for efficiency.
