XPO is a publicly traded LTL pure-play after the RXO and GXO spin-offs, and equity research routinely flags XPO as one of the more tech-forward LTL carriers.

That reputation drives a specific kind of search: procurement teams and engineers running enterprise-grade tech evaluations come looking for an XPO freight API the same way they'd look for a Snowflake or Stripe API.

What they actually find in 2026 is better than the old answer: XPO publishes a real API platform at developers.ltl-xpo.com with six documented LTL APIs — rating with spot quotes, bill of lading, pickup request, shipment tracking, imaging, and shipping tools — and the endpoint reference is readable without creating an account.

Credit where due: among incumbent LTL carriers, that documentation openness is the exception. What hasn't changed is the onboarding model.

There's no self-serve credential: XPO's help center routes every integration through an email to LTLWebAPISupport@xpo.com with your web user ID, the APIs you want, and your business type, and OAuth consumer credentials come back from XPO's side.

The structural reality is that XPO sells contracted LTL to its customers; the API is an integration surface for those relationships, not an onboarding path for a developer or an AI agent without one.

XPO's LTL developer surface (audited 2026-06-12) lives in two public places: developers.ltl-xpo.com, an API catalog with OpenAPI 3.1 endpoint references for six LTL APIs (Rating with Rate Quote and Spot Quote operations, Bill of Lading, Pickup Request, Shipment Tracking, Imaging, and LTL Shipping Tools), and the xpo.com help center, which hosts downloadable PDF implementation guides and Java SDKs.

All of it is readable without a login.

What's missing is the key.

The platform's Subscribe flow requires an XPO web account, and XPO's own help center instructs integrators: "If you are ready to integrate with our APIs, please send an email to LTLWebAPISupport@xpo.com" — with your web user ID, the APIs you want, and your business type.

OAuth 2.0 consumer credentials are issued by XPO, tokens come from api.ltl.xpo.com/token, and the only test affordance documented is a testMode flag on pickup and BOL requests — no self-serve sandbox key.

The API is also LTL-only and single-carrier by design: it quotes and executes on XPO's own network.

An npm search for "xpo" returns only third-party utilities — no first-party packages, no MCP server, no CLI.
